Dr. Natan Colombo ( 周纳丹 ), Italian economist and legal scholar, earned a bachelor degree in Business Administration and Economics (BSc) and a master degree in Business Management (MSc) elaborating the thesis Place Branding Hainan: A Strategic Sustainable Plan for a Province/Island of the People’s Republic of China at Carlo Cattaneo - LIUC University in Italy. In Beijing, he obtained a PhD (SJD) in International Law at the China University of Political Science and Law (中国政法大学) defending his dissertation titled From the Economic Analysis of International Law to the Economic Analysis of Treaties: the Configuration and Application of a Holistic Economic Model to the Analysis of Treaties. In 2020, he was conferred the award Outstanding Doctoral Graduate (优秀毕业生) by the China University of Political Science and Law and Excellent Foreign Teacher (优秀外教) by Hainan Tropical Ocean University (海南热带海洋学院). For two years, he has been a student of the International Chinese Language and Culture Center at Tsinghua University (清华大学), where he had the chance to improve his knowledge of Chinese language and culture.
In 2012, he decided to permanently move to China and start a collaboration as visiting lecturer with the School of Science and Technology of Qiongzhou University and the following year he was officially hired as lecturer. Since the A.Y. 2014-2015 he has been employed at the School of China-Austria for the four-year double degree joint programme between Hainan Tropical Ocean University and IMC, FH Krems, University of Applied Sciences (Austria). More specifically, he is in charge of the courses International Tourism Markets, Accounting (I), Macroeconomics, Managerial Accounting, and Finance & Investment held in the first semester and Microeconomics, Accounting (II), Chinese Tourism Law, and Controlling held in the second semester. In the past academic years, he was responsible for other courses in addition to the just mentioned ones.
Since the A.Y. 2013-2014 he has covered the position of scholar of Change Management post-graduate course at Carlo Cattaneo - LIUC University and, since the A.Y. 2018-2019, has joined THU - SABRI (Tsinghua University's Student Association of the Belt and Road Initiative) as Director of the Academic and Culture Department and member of its executive committee.
His first language is Italian. In 2015, he was granted the TESOL Advanced Certification by the American TESOL Institute and took the Oxford Placement Test (C2, CEFR) in 2020. Through the intensive courses attended at Tsinghua University, his Chinese reached an advanced level. Besides, he has a good knowledge of Spanish and basic French. He loves reading, in particular, economic essays and politic-historical essays on the Latin, Greek, and Chinese civilisations and has a passion for Ancient Languages, Classic Chinese (古代汉语) included.
His research activities are mainly focused on issues related to the Economic analysis of international law, Economics, China's economy and society, the Chinese legal system, Chinese language and culture, Political science and International relations, and Change management.
